Chungcheongbuk-do announced that it has surpassed 100 trillion won in investment attraction during Lee Si-jong’s tenure. Manufacturing-oriented industrial structures such as semiconductors, secondary batteries, and bio are being strengthened. Governor Lee Si-jong said it was the result of operating a corporate attraction system as well as administrative and financial support, residing an investment attraction team in Seoul, and publicly attracting investment.
Chungbuk, which lacks absolute resources, has been putting all its energy into attracting investment with the idea that attracting investment is the only way to revive the economy.
Due to the large-scale investment attraction, the manufacturing industry ratio in Chungbuk increased from 41% in 2010 to 49.5% in 2019.
It is far above the national average of 28.7%.
The manufacturing-oriented industrial structure has become the foundation for North Chungcheong Province to do better than other regions in employment, even in the COVID-19 situation.
